4 Printable Activities to Build Self-Awareness in Teens

Young people are experiencing a mental health crisis. Addressing the problem starts with self-awareness.

This week, the U.S. Surgeon General warned of a youth mental health crisis, writing, “The coronavirus pandemic intensified a rise in adolescent depression, anxiety and mental health distress.” Working to improve mental health requires looking inward to take stock of who we are, how we came to our current state, and where we see ourselves in the future. In other words, at addressing mental health requires self-awareness. That’s why for our first teen self-help workbook, the Digging Deep Project chose to focus on self-awareness. Our book, “The Shadow’s Edge Guide to Self-Awareness: A Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Workbook for Teens,” is meant to be used alone or as a companion to our multi-award winning mobile game, Shadow’s Edge. Produced in collaboration with Kristi Pikiewicz, PhD, the workbook offers 45 pages of pen-and-paper activities based on positive psychology, mindfulness and self-expression.

If you’re a parent or professional working with young people who are struggling to discover their place in the world, try out these printable pages below!
