If your house is like ours, the process of deciding what to be for Halloween started about November 1… of last year. And it only took until November 2 to realize there was no buy-in for the standard costumes of ninja, vampire, witch or werewolf. Unfortunately, it will take until about October 27 for kids to make their final choices, leading to a dramatic scramble to make it happen before the Big Night. Or they’ll end up with a last-minute pun costume like a blue shirt with a rubber chicken on a necklace. Get it? Chicken cord-on-blue?
The thing is, because Halloween is that one day a year when no one is “normal,” it provides a chance for medically complex kids to be just like everyone else. It’s also a day when creativity can overcome disability. So with a month left until Halloween, here are some of the most creative costume ideas we’ve found for kids with medical needs!
